In 2018, Gmail’s 1.4 billion users got their first major upgrade since 2011.
From a game-changing “snooze email” function
to the exciting option to make sent messages “self-destruct”,
we will run through the key features of the new Gmail Interface.

Gmail has added about 10 new features to the Gmail Interface.
This is the first change Google has made in about 8 years!
There are abilities that will appeal to many and some that you will rarely use.
But, imagine sending an email and then, change your mind and bring it back!
Or, snooze an email you don’t want to read today,
but have it show up again tomorrow or 3 days from now.
You can also check your calendar or make a shopping list without leaving the Gmail website.
These are just some of the features.

This Workshop is a hands-on event, so bring your own laptop computers
Or, you can use the Club's computers. Also, you will need a Google/Gmail account.
Bring your Gmail address and your password.

You can use Google Drive on your PC or laptop, on your smartphone and on your tablet.
You can find your Google Drive files on the computers at the Computer Club,

Google Photos Workshop

Steve Snedden
Google Photos gives users free, unlimited storage for photos and videos.
There is also a paid version for professional photographers.
The service automatically analyzes your photos,
identifying various visual features and subjects.
Users can search for anything in photos, finding results from three major categories:
People, Places, and Things.
Google Photos recognizes faces, grouping similar ones together;
geographic landmarks (such as the Grand Canyon);
and subject matter, including birthdays, buildings, animals, food, and more.

Google Photos will automatically generate albums, animate similar photos into quick videos,
surface past memories at significant times, and improve the quality of photos and videos.
Users can also create their own annimations, albums, movies and collages.

You can access Google Photos from a PC via any internet browser, an Apple laptop,
any Android device, a Chromebook, Linux computer and from an iPad.

Pam Raisanen
Sway is an easy, no skills needed, way to create a presentation that might include photos, videos, text, and web links. It can be used to showcase that family gathering, club information, or create a newsletter. Share your Sway's privately, publicly or just to who you send a link to. It can be put on a Facebook page or embedded in a website. Sway is used to input text and media which it automatically combines to create a beautiful web presentation. Content can be pulled locally from the device in use, or from internet sources such as Bing, Facebook, OneDrive, and YouTube. There is a link in Windows 10 Photo App under Albums where you can automatically create a Sway from a photo album. They can be viewed and edited from any web browser by logging in at sway.com, with a web app available in Office Online or be accessed using apps for Windows 10 and iOS.
